I pray all is well. As I was looking for a scriptural reference for the attribute I originally planned on focusing on today, I felt like God “course-corrected” me and gave me another: God and Jesus as relational. While listening to a sermon years ago, a pastor once said that as Christians, we need to focus on both of the lines that make up the cross. The vertical deals with out relationship with God, and the horizontal deals with our relationship with others. The two are distinct, yet interconnected.
Today’s scripture (Matthew 5: 23-24, NIV) addresses this point, as Jesus is talking to a crowd about how to relate to each other:
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” (emphasis mine)
Until tomorrow, take care and God bless!
