I pray all is well. In September, I was blessed to be able to attend the third annual Alpha Omega (AO) Con in southern California. As a participant in early discussions about the possibility of a Christian comic convention in southern California, I still remember my reaction when we got news that the first annual AO Con would indeed take place in September of 2014.
When I got the news that AO Con was on I was still working on my dissertation at UC Berkeley so it was likely I would be able to attend. But that summer I got offered a one-year teaching position in Saint Paul, MN, so I wasn’t able to attend. Fast forward a year later and I am fresh off of settling into my new teaching position in Spokane, WA, and as a result did not attend the second annual AO Con in September of 2015.
Enter my wonderful wife.
She demanded I attend the third annual AO Con this past September and although I almost talked myself out of it due to the semester just starting up not wanting to spend money on a plane ticket at that time, I am so glad I listened to my better half.
I want to give a big shout out to my good friend Luis Serrano (Rooted Chronicles), who shared his table and wisdom with me during the Con.
And of course, what’s a comic convention without splurging on discounted comics you didn’t know existed?
I had a great time and I cannot wait for the next one!
